OUR STORY

Welcome to Rozenhof Villas, your exclusive escape in the heart of Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Johannes van Eeden and Saskia Wicomb are Stellenbosch locals who now divide their time between Les Mazots du Clos in Switzerland, Château de Roche in France, and Rozenhof. Once their Stellenbosch pied-à-terre, Rozenhof reflects their deep connection to the history of the area. They transformed the villa into a space that blends classic elegance with modern comfort, offering guests the warmth and authenticity of a place shaped by their personal story.

A Historical Landmark

Rozenhof was built in 1937, designed by Stellenbosch town clerk Walther Blersch (1888–1971). It blends German Biedermeier architecture with Art Deco elements, drawing inspiration from the military hospital in Tübingen, Germany. The site originally housed Stellenbosch’s first jail, part of the courthouse. The jail was demolished in 1936 to make way for a women’s dormitory. In 1997, the building was converted into eleven private residential units, with a balcony added to the front façade.
